Trello
The Trello app connects a Trello account to Sprigr Team. Agents can find a card from a few words, read it in full, create, edit, move, copy, archive and comment on cards, tick checklist items, add labels and members, attach links and files to cards, define a board’s custom fields and set them by name, create or move many cards in one call, and clear a list at the end of a sprint. Watched boards are mirrored into a search index and send real-time events that workflows can act on.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- A Trello account that can see the boards agents should work on. Free and paid Trello plans both work.
- Admin or Owner role in your Sprigr Team organisation to install the app.
Installing and connecting
Section titled “Installing and connecting”-
Install the app
Sign in to team.sprigr.com, open Apps in the sidebar, find Trello under Available, and install it. No secrets are requested. See Installing Apps.
-
Connect a Trello account
Ask your agent to connect Trello, or open the app’s settings page from Apps > Installed and click Connect Trello. Sign in to Atlassian, approve the request, and the page shows the connected member, the default board and the watched boards.
-
Pick a default board and what to watch
Set a default board so everyday requests need no board name. Under Watched boards choose which boards the search mirror and real-time events cover, or leave it on every open board (up to 50).
-
Check the connection
Ask the agent “What’s in the To Do list on the Workshop board?” and it lists the cards.
Sync, webhooks, events and undo
Section titled “Sync, webhooks, events and undo”- Search mirror. Cards on watched boards are mirrored into a search index in your workspace, so “the filament card” resolves to the right card by name, description, list, label, member or checklist text without a Trello call. The mirror is a resolver: the agent reads the live card before acting. A catch-up sync runs every 15 minutes and a full re-read nightly.
- Real-time updates. The app registers a Trello webhook per watched board and checks them nightly, because Trello disables a webhook after repeated failed deliveries. A card dragged in Trello is reflected within seconds.
- Events for workflows. Changes are emitted as
trello.card.created,.updated,.moved,.archived,.deleted,.commented,.member_changed,.label_changed,trello.checklist.item_toggled,trello.list.created,.updatedandtrello.board.updated, which a workflow can subscribe to. A drag within a list refreshes the mirror and emits nothing, so “when a card changes” automations do not fire on every nudge. - Confirmation. Deletes (card, checklist, checklist item, label, comment, attachment) ask first and say they cannot be undone; closing a board and archiving every card on a list ask first; creating five or more cards in one call asks first. Deleting a card is archive-first: the agent offers to archive instead unless you insist.
- Undo. Reversible changes are journalled: creating, editing, moving, copying and archiving cards (singly or in bulk), lists, labels, members, checklist ticks, custom field values and attachments. The platform’s
list_undoable_changesandundo_changetools put a change back. Comments and deletes are not undoable.
What agents can do
Section titled “What agents can do”The app exposes a single trello tool that takes an action, with 63 actions. Cards are identified by Trello’s 24-character id or the 8-character shortLink from a card URL; when you only have words, search_cards resolves them. At a category level:
- Boards and lists: list and read boards (lists, labels and members in one call), create, rename, close and reopen boards; create, rename, reorder, archive and restore lists; move a list to another board; archive every card on a list; the board’s activity feed.
- Cards: list by list or board, search, read in full, create (one or many), edit name, description, dates, position, labels and members, move (one or many), copy with chosen parts, archive, restore, delete; the card’s history.
- Comments and checklists: add, edit and delete comments; create checklists with items, add items, tick, rename and reorder them, delete.
- Labels and members: define, rename, recolour and delete labels; add and remove labels and members on a card; look up members.
- Attachments: list what is on a card, attach a link or upload a file from the Sprigr file store (a file shared in chat), delete. Files Trello itself hosts cannot be opened by the agent yet: Trello only serves them to its older key-and-token authorisation, not to an OAuth 2.0 connection, so the agent gives you the Trello link or asks you to share the file in chat.
- Custom fields: define a text, number, date, checkbox or dropdown field on a board; read a board’s fields and a card’s values; set a field on a card by its name.
Dates are ISO 8601; a bare calendar date is stored at noon UTC so it reads as that day everywhere.
Common use cases
Section titled “Common use cases”- Cards from conversations. A team member describes work in chat and the agent creates the card with the right list, labels, member and due date, and a comment carrying the context.
- Stand-ups. “What moved on the board since yesterday?” reads the board’s activity feed in one call.
- Values from documents. Share the supplier’s quote in chat, and the agent attaches it to the job card and records the total in the Job value field.
- Bulk intake. A list of jobs from the morning’s emails becomes cards in one confirmed call; at the end of the day the scheduled ones move in one call.
- Cross-system links. A workflow on
trello.card.movedinto Done notifies the customer or closes the matching job elsewhere. - Sprint cleanup. “Clear out Done” archives every card on the list, with undo.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Not connected Nobody has completed the Connect Trello step, or the Trello grant was revoked. Reconnect from the app’s settings page.
A board the agent cannot see The connected Trello member is not on that board. Add them in Trello, or connect an account that is.
“Unauthorized organization” when creating or reopening a board Those are workspace-level writes. A connection made before the workspace-write scope was added needs a reconnect from the settings page.
A card the agent cannot find The mirror covers watched boards only. Add the board under Watched boards, or ask the agent to search Trello directly.
The agent cannot open a file attached in Trello Expected for now: Trello does not let an OAuth 2.0 connection download the files it hosts (it answers 401). The connection is not broken. Open the file from the Trello link the agent gives you, or share the file in chat and the agent reads it there and can attach it to the card.
Real-time updates stopped Trello disables a webhook after repeated failures. The nightly check re-registers it; the settings page shows each board’s webhook status and last success.
